The 700hp BMW M1 turbo flamethrower

During the 40th AvD Oldtimer GP, TrackandTuner.com records this awesome BMW M1 Turbo shooting huge flames all over the track.

The BMW M1 was BMW’s effort of creating a racecar for Group 5 racing. But during their development rule changes created a one brand league called the M1 Procar championship.

These M1 Procars produced 470hp, which you can check out here.

But during the development Porsche had created the 935 K3. These Turbo monsters were dominating the races with their huge turbo’s as they were producing over 700hp and were too fast for the entire field.

To reduce the HP gap, BMW created the M1 turbo. These cars with their turbo’s could produce 800hp. This particular one has 700hp and is shooting some massive flames out of its exhaust.

These cars are a handful to handle, with a huge Turbo gap it’s hard to manage the throttle. Because once the boost comes in, hold on tight.

This was clear when the BMW M1 turbo entered the really tight first corner of the Nurburgring, where it spun right in front of us.

Enjoy the photos and check out the video for the massive flames.
