TrackandTuner.com visited the Gamma Racing days at the circuit Assen. You have already seen part one with Stichting Groot Hart and the Dutch Supercar Challenge race one in our second article. However the Gamma Racing days have so much to offer.
As press we went up close with some of your racing hero's like MotoGP racers Dani Pedros and ex-F1 legend Mika Hakkinen, but more on that later.
First we entered the pit to check out an all original Ferrari F1 V12 by Jean Alesi. This gorgeous F1 is the real deal, not turbo's no fancy aero just real racing. We loved the sounds of this car blasting by during some of its demo laps.
Next up where the demo's from Dani Pedrosa and Mika Hakkinen which were completely chaotic but so much fun. We had the opportunity to get up close with Dani Pedrosa. A big name in the MotoGP championship was getting ready in the pit box for some quick laps around the TT Assen circuit. It was great to see him up close and still flying along the track like it was a test day. It is all or nothing with these guys.
We als went up close and personal with ex-F1 and legend Mika Hakkinen. The "Flying Fin" was world champion in 1998 and 1999 fighting alongside Michael Schumacher and the others. I remember looking on the TV seeing him racing and it was great so meet him. I must be honest I did snap a "selfie" with Mika as he was very friendly and open for photo's.
In the meanwhile the complete main straight was filled with pro's like Robert Doornbos, Tom Coronel, Dani Pedrosa and Mika Hakkinen. It was chaotic but so much fun to see all the legends talking with eachother, laughing and entertaining the crowd.
With Bob Herber in his Mercedes SLS GT3 gaining it was tight and exciting who would take the podium. Because at the front the Le Mans cars and the 700HP+ Puma where way in front. However Martino hold of the Mercedes and took another podium, great job.
With Mika Hakkinen giving the throphy to the winners this was the end of a great weekend full of great cars and entertainment.
We recorded a new Samsung 360 video onboard the Ferrari 458GT2 with MartinoRosso. We are however not really happy with the quality yet. Because of our rendering issues the quality is not as we have recorded and we know we can improve quality on the next video's so stay tuned on www.youtube.com/Tomedelic1 for more 360 video.
Give it a shot and move your mouse 360 degrees to see a great overview of the race.
