TrackandTuner.com visited the Zandvoort Paasraces. You have already seen the overall views, Supersport and Sport division and an article on the SuperGT and GTB division. In this article we take an up close look at team MartinoRosso. Zandvoort is a very challenging circuit with great heights and dangerous corners and with these supercars in the SuperGT division this ensures some very exiting races.
In race two of the Dutch Supercar Challenge the Audi R8 LMS started from pole position in a rolling start with the Ferrari 458 GT2 starting from third position. After a blistering start MartinoRosso took first place in the Tarzan corner, with the Audi R8 LMS closing the gap to secure second. During the first few laps they were capable to leave the Audi talent behind them. However after the first laps the Audi managed to squeeze through and pulled out quite a gap. The motorsport Audi R8 LMS ultra was driven by Fabian Hambrecht, selected from the Audi talent pool which was very fast indeed, but Bob Herber drove a very strong first part to stay close.
During the drivers change Martino took place in the Ferrari 458 GT2 and needed to close the gap to the new Audi driver. The Ferrari was closing the gap and only on the last 5 minutes he managed to pass the Audi R8. Just in time of a safety car situation which neutralized the race. MartinoRosso finished in first place behind the safety car followed by the Audi R8 LMS and Volvo V8. A big congratulation to team MartinoRosso on their first victory. We have been following MartinoRosso over the last years and have enjoyed the process they have made and we will continue to follow them and are looking forward to more victories.
